AI Academy: Launch of the Greek Community of Practice

On Friday, May 22, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Department of Primary Education of the University of Athens, the inaugural meeting of the Greek Community of Practice of the European AI Academy project will take place, with the aim of strengthening teachers’ knowledge and skills in the pedagogical, creative, and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence in education.

We invite academics, educators at all levels, students in education departments, researchers, and experts in Artificial Intelligence to attend and learn about the Community of Practice and its activities in Greece.
During the meeting, the following will be presented:
– the objectives and framework of the AI Academy project,
– the operation and activities of the Community of Practice,
– the first thematic working groups.

The AI Academy: A European Collaborative Framework for AI Teacher Training and School Innovation is an innovative European initiative coordinated by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and involving 13 partner organizations from Greece, Italy, Bulgaria, Poland, Portugal, and Norway.

The project partners are: Athens Lifelong Learning Institute, Institute of Educational Policy, Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education of Crete – Stavrakeio Lyceum of Anogia, University of Palermo, Stimmuli for Social Change, Convitto Nazionale Giovanni Falcone, Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, University of Lodz, LCDNIKP Lodz, University of Minho, Casa do Professor, Nord University, Municipality of Bodo.

This inaugural meeting marks the launch of the Greek Community of Practice and will serve as an open forum for networking, dialogue, and collaboration among educators, researchers, and experts interested in leveraging Artificial Intelligence in teaching and learning.

The Community of Practice will function as a dynamic network for collaboration and co-creation, through working meetings, thematic workshops, pilot applications, and the development of educational materials. Particular emphasis will be placed on the pedagogical use of Generative AI tools, differentiated instruction, the ethical and responsible use of AI, data protection, and inclusion.
