1st Steering Committee Meeting for the "NoHate Police" Project

On the 29th and 30th of May 2024, the Athens Lifelong Learning Institute hosted the 1st Steering Committee Meeting of the “NoHate Police: Enhancing the police response to hate through training in Greece and Cyprus – NoHate Police” project. This meeting also served as the kick-off of the project.

The NoHatePolice project is dedicated to providing comprehensive training for police officers in Greece and Cyprus. Our goal is to enhance the ability of police officers, commanders, cadets, and investigators to recognize and respond to incidents of hate. We plan to achieve this by conducting a series of 20 seminars, with an expected participation of 400 individuals across different police functions. By providing this training, we aim to create safer communities for all.

During the 1st Steering Committee Meeting, the partners had the chance to present the activities of the project, the key performance indicators of the project, as well as the timeline of the project’s activities.

The 2nd Steering Committee Meeting is set to take place in November 2024, in Cyprus with the purpose of evaluating the deliverables of the project so far, as well as planning the next steps of the project.

Partners of the project are:

  • the Athens Lifelong Learning Institute, from Greece

  • CEJI-Facing Facts, from Belgium

  • the Hellenic Police, from Greece

  • the Cyprus Police, from Cyprus

  • the Center for Security Studies, from Greece

  • the European University of Cyprus, from Cyprus

The project is co-funded by the European Union through the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Value Programme (CERV), and its duration is 24 months.
