INFORMATIVE EVENT ON THE EUROPEAN PROJECT TITLED SKILLS4LIFE

Can life skills training improve the lives of justice-involved youth?

It can. At least this is the evidence from the implementation of the European project titled Skills4Life, as it was implemented in Greece, Italy, France and the U.K. In the framework of the project, more than 80 young people in conflict with the law were trained in life skills and empowered to break the vicious cycle of recidivism, which, based on global statistics, sends them back to prisons and detention centers shortly after their release.

The Athens Lifelong Learning Institute, a key partner of the project, will present the basic activities of the project during the Informative Event, which will take place online on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at 17:00.

The holistic approach of the Skills4Life project will be presented during the event, an approach which includes research and networking activities, development of training materials and implementation of training workshops. In our country, the approach of the project was applied in Korydallos Prison, in the Special Youth Detention Center of Avlona and in Malandrino Prison.

The Informative Event is addressed to all professionals in the fields of correctional policy, adult education and support of vulnerable social groups, as it aims to be the trigger for the continuation of the open public discussion regarding the respect and protection of human rights for everybody.
