The Athens Lifelong Learning Institute, partner of the European project “Aware: Cross-sectoral awareness building on mental health needs in the criminal justice system and on release” invites you to participate in the event titled “The Dimension of Mental Health in the Penitentiary System”
The aim of the event is to raise the issue of mental health within detention facilities as well as to manage the social problems associated with the double stigma of incarceration and mental illness. The event will present the results of research on mental health within European prisons, identify critical points of intervention and support as well as the training needs of both inmates and prison staff in the country, and present the training material aimed to support mental health practices within the penitentiary system.
The event is part of the project “AWARE: Cross-sectoral awareness building on the criminal justice system and on release”. The AWARE program is coordinated by the Ministry of Justice of Bremen, Germany, and is attended by seven (7) internationally accredited organizations – with extensive experience in prison and prison – such as the International Corrections and Prison Associations (ICPA) and Innovative Prison Systems – and implemented under the European Erasmus + program.
